The design of domestic spaces changes according to the needs of those who live in the home and the new way of living. Among the main design revolutions this year, seating takes center stage; chairs and armchairs are being transformed into not only practical items but also unique design pieces. Colored chairs are trending and will increasingly be chosen to furnish homes in the coming months.
What are the most beautiful colors to watch out for, and how to choose the most suitable colored chairs for each room in the house?
What are chairs for in the home? Chairs are essential furnishing elements to create welcoming and functional spaces. We use them in various ways, either alone or paired with a table in the kitchen or dining room.
Chairs can be used in different areas of the house, both indoors and outdoors (gardens, balconies, terraces, patios…). They come in various materials, colors, and finishes.
This year, however, all eyes are on colored chairs—comfortable and designer. What are the most popular models to date, and which ones should you choose for a trendsetting home?
This year brings many new developments in furniture. There’s an explosion of warm colors paired with soft, velvety fabrics. We also see the return of fluid shapes and the confirmation that wood remains one of the most beloved materials in the design and definition of furniture and decor, as well as the growing appreciation for recycled and eco-friendly materials.
We therefore have several interesting proposals to explore: chairs made of wood or with wood finishes, particularly dark woods that evoke a quiet luxury aesthetic—very fashionable this year—that brings a sophisticated touch to our homes.
Colored wooden chairs may have natural, glossy, or matte finishes.
Matte wooden chairs are on-trend in 2024, especially in intense shades like black or anthracite gray, which pair well with urban and industrial décor styles.
Profiles with intentionally generous sections create a pure and essential architecture that forms the structural frame of a soft, welcoming, and enveloping seat. From this contrast, the Finn project takes shape.
A fusion of Nordic elements, filtered through typically Italian softness and elegance, in pursuit of the perfect balance between tension and harmony.
Materials, colors, finishes, and refined details highlight the personality and character of this collection. Offered in different material combinations, the chair and armchair versions form a complete and coherent whole, suitable for various living needs in private homes and in the diverse world of contract environments.
The Finn chair is available in the following colors: black, gray, aquamarine, walnut-stained ash, and white-stained ash.
Dark wood, which until recently was mostly chosen for more classic furnishings, will be used this year even in modern and versatile interiors, to define seating with wide and comfortable backrests and seats.
Si-Si Wood chair with armrests by Scab Design
Eclectic, chameleonic, and multi-material, Si-Si is above all a smart chair that does not rely solely on aesthetics, as it can interpret the delicate balance between indoor and outdoor.
A single shell, fixed to a slender frame, can serve equally as both backrest and seat. Hence the name Si-Si — a sound repeated twice to pay homage to the duality of this element. One frame and four “shells,” with different textures and materials, allow it to be used in many different environments.
Seat and backrest slats are made of solid mahogany wood.
If you prefer a light wood essence, opt for a wooden chair in warm tones, such as oak.

Taupe Chairs
Taupe is one of the most widely used tones in interior decorative palettes. It's an enveloping and versatile color that continues to be a favorite in recent years among both designers and first-time decorators.
Taupe chairs are elegant yet easy to match with various settings, from the kitchen to the dining room. The difference lies above all in the type of material chosen for the frame and, where present, the padding.
For a modern style, you can opt for light taupe and faux leather upholstery for the seat/backrest of the chair — a combination that also works very well with wood. Taupe chairs can also be paired with metal finishes for a bolder design.

Shades of Blue: from Petrol Blue Chairs to Dusty Grey
Blue is a color that always finds its place in the home, as it suits every room and interior style. In 2024, blue shades become warm and intense: we will choose blue accents to soften neutral palettes and add a personal touch even to the most minimal spaces.
Petrol blue chairs are perfect for elegant settings but also go well with urban chic design interiors, a very popular furnishing trend this year as well, reinterpreted according to the type of living space.
Light blue, as well as sky blue and powder blue, are more versatile yet impactful solutions for more informal spaces, along with the ever-relevant dusty grey.

If you love plastic chairs, blue, light blue, and sky blue are very popular colors for these seats, both for indoor and outdoor spaces.
Stackable Zebra chair in technopolymer by Scab Design
The Zebra chair has a shell made of recyclable technopolymer. The frame has 4 legs, with or without armrests, made of chromed tubular steel. The chair is stackable and recommended for indoor use.
Green chairs are worth keeping an eye on, especially those in more modern shades like emerald green, mint green, sage green, and the versatile moss green, a color that recalls a typically ’70s palette. Another color not to miss for creating an original décor is lime green: the reference to a retro glam design is quite strong.
Green is a color that pairs perfectly with wood finishes but is also found combined with metal finishes, particularly brass color, which is increasingly trendy in 2024.
Stackable Me chair with brass effect finish by Scab Design
Me and You, by Simone Micheli, are offered in a new version with a metal frame in satin brass finish. The enveloping shapes and the novel structure, reminiscent of the overwhelming Sixties, make them an iconic piece. The velvet upholstery, available in elegant tones — warm green, brick, beaver, and ecru — enhances their comfort.
Colored velvet chairs are another trend to note and one we will likely see again next year.
Here is an original and uncommon proposal, with a ’70s design both in aesthetic choice and color, featuring an iconic lime green.
Stackable Snow 300 chair by Pedrali in colored polypropylene
The Snow chair by Pedrali is made of polypropylene and is characterized by a clean line. The Snow polypropylene chair by Pedrali is available in various colors including lime green, red, orange, blue, and classic neutrals (from white to taupe).
Orange is undoubtedly the color of the year, or rather, to be precise, Peach Fuzz is Pantone’s color for 2024. It is a delicate shade ranging from orange to pink, a color that resembles a soft and velvety peach.
Thanks to the Dopamine Décor trend, where colors are increasingly protagonists, it’s enough to know how to combine them to create breathtaking and original palettes that immediately bring joy.
Orange chairs, but also red chairs and all those in warm shades ranging from pink to reddish-orange tones, will be the protagonists of your spaces, whether you are furnishing a living room or a study.
Chair made of 100% recyclable polypropylene injection-molded, legs made of extruded aluminum and die-cast aluminum frame. The shell is available in white, sand, orange, black, and blue colors matched with a frame painted in the same tone.
